Class 13

We had a great Active Week. We enjoyed foot golf, athletics, basketball, swimming, dance and orienteering!! We also had a great jamming session with Mark from Music Generation.
LCA1 wrapped up their Project 21 workshops for this school year with a fun filled day at the DRUM Youth Centre. They watched a screening of the movies they made with YIFM, had a live Q+A with animator Helga from Cartoon Saloon, enjoyed some Virtyal Reality and food from Langtons.
We also went to Mario's to celebrate a great end to Work Experience week. With one student getting an offer of part time Summer work in McDonald's!
LCA1 is busy with work experience this week. Local businesses have always been very accommodating in supporting our students with work placement. This year the students are in the following businesses TJ Reid's Gym, Hennessy's Sports Shop, Essences Music Shop and McDonalds. The students are working really hard and having a great time.
We got on great in their 2nd and 3rd interviews in LCA in both ICT and Vocational Preparation and Guidance. They also had their initial introductory meeting with their key workers for their placements.
They will have a full week on work placement next week.
We have been busy working on the tasks. They carried out a Career Investigation for VPG and they created a historical podcast series for their ICT task. Have a listen to their podcast series on the Kilkenny GAOL Escape 1921.

Kilkenny GAOL Break 100th Anniversary Podcast
We really enjoyed our cultural Irish events: set dancing, creating our posters, GAA rounders and lots more. It was a lot of fun. We also have been enjoying preparing our ethnic dishes. Endjis made Lativan cookies, Michael made Indian Chicken Korma and Robbie made a USA burger with fries and some bbq wings to start with.
We recorded our copy of 'In too Deep' by Sum 41 with Mark from Music Generation.
We had a very busy month - The class had their first LCA interview with an external examiner, they did fantastic.
We went to Butler Gallery for an exhibition and then to the farmers market.
We all enjoyed the 'UnMake' workshop as part of Project 21 in the DRUM.
We- LCA1 are busy getting ready for their first LCA interview on their General Education Task in February. They carried out a research project on the Kilkenny GAOL break 100 years ago. They got great feedback on their booklet from KAS and they are very proud of their work.
We enjoyed a morning out Bowling and Eddie Rockets. Endjis was a super striker with the top score! Best of luck Michael and all the players in Belfast at the Soccer for All Tournament.
